6 Period Day

Posted in Uncategorized on November 3, 2010 by

As you have been reading in both middle school and district information, we will be transitioning to a 6 period day next year at the secondary schools.  This will help us reach budgetary modifications that need to occur.

We are committed to building a schedule that meets the needs of our students and provides the most well-rounded educational opportunities possible.  Please take a moment to provide input through the enews link that was emailed on Friday, October 29th.  Your input is important as we take our next steps in planning.

Thank you for your time and interest!

Conference Follow Up

It was wonderful to see so many families at conferences!  We value the time to connect with families to share the progress our students are making in their learning.  Thank you so much for your support!  As always, if you have questions or concerns, please contact your child’s teacher for more information.

We all look forward to seeing everyone again!

Conferences!!

We are having conferences next week in Spring Lake Park.  This is a very important time for us at Westwood Middle School.  This is our opportunity to connect with parents regarding progress in school.  Staff are busy preparing information to share that help describe academic performance.

We look forward to seeing you next week!

The First Month of School

Posted in Uncategorized on October 4, 2010 by

Hello Everyone,

It is hard to believe but the first month of the school year is nearly behind us.  I don’t know where the time goes.

Last evening we had our first parent meeting for the year.  At the meeting, I shared our focus for the year regarding building goals and our professional development plan.  It is important for me that you know what we are learning while your students aren’t in school!

The other thing we talked about is our charge to be prepared to move to a 6 period day next year.  The leadership team at our building has been studying and discussing our options for months.  It is our goal to be done by November. This will allow families to register for next year by late winter.  Please watch this site as well as our website for updates regarding this.

As always, if you have questions or thoughts about our school, I want to know.  I firmly believe that I learn a great deal from listening to our families.  Your experiences are important to me.  You can always email me at phoff@district16.org

Thanks for your time and I look forward to the communication via our blog this school year!
